IT is easy to dismiss objections by Lodge Moor Open Space Management Company to children from outside the area being allowed to enjoy a local playground as small minded and, frankly, ludicrous.
If play facilities aren't for children, then for whom were they installed?
But how many of us haven't despaired when we have seen play equipment provided for children being abused by children with no loyalty to the area? The objections are well in
tentioned but are stated too abruptly.
The company members pay for the provision and upkeep of the play area and it does them credit to want to see that they do not fall into disrepair.
The answer, however is not to be found in restriction of who uses them but in ensuring that they are valued by visitors. And that is where parents enter the equations.
They should ensure their children do not abuse the playground - or compensate the management company if damage is caused.
Bringing right kind of attention to city SCHOOLS are often held to be the hearts of our communities. And at the heart of all of our schools are their teachers. And good teachers are the foundation stones of the future, making sure that our communities continue to grow and meet today's constantly changing challenges.
And that is why it is particularly encouraging to learn that teachers at Firth Park Community Arts College have been successful in the National Specialist Schools and Academies Trust Awards.
The college has been praised for the creative way it encourages its young teachers to develop their enthusiasm to help youngsters make the most of their school days.
This is only achieved with the right kind of leadership and the college's management is to be congratulated for its achievements.
What is more, its secrets are to be passed on to other teachers at a conference in Birmingham which will bring even more welcome attention to the city's education professionals.
