MANAGER of the Month Mark Robins has challenged his Rotherham United squad to maintain their good start while insisting standards must not drop.
"This month was just what everyone wanted - and needed - at the football club and we couldn't have done much more," said Robins.

"The trick now is to ensure we maintain it, do not let standards drop and, in fact, strive to continue and to improve. We've had a good month but why can't we have another good month?

"The fact is, we need it and more. We're on minus seven points, don't let's forget."

Robins received the League Two Manager of the Month award yesterday - his second such award, having won one for last November after which the first game was at Chesterfield - just as it is tomorrow.

What do you think? Post your comments below.

"I received the award but this really was on behalf of the players and the staff and a hard-working chairman, all of whom have worked incredibly hard amid all the difficulties. They all deserve a big pat on the back" said Robins.

"I'd also like to dedicate it to the fans as well. Our supporters had a very difficult summer with all the uncertainty and they didn't really know if they'd have a club to support and then they lost their ground.

"But they have stood by us magnificently and the way they have got behind the team and everyone after the move to the Don Valley Stadium has given everyone a lift.

"I'm happy that, in the early days after all the problems, we have been able to give them something to really cheer.

"I'm sure they'll stick with us and we'll strive to give them more to cheer and to move the club forward."

Robins also dismissed the supposed 'curse' of the award whereby a team often seems to lose the game after it is presented.

"It didn't affect us last time when we won it and then went to Chesterfield and won so I'm not taking any notice this time either," said Robins.
