RUMOUR has it that Gordon Brown (the supposedly Labour Prime Minister) has given his consent in backing a State funeral for ex-Tory Premier Margaret Thatcher when her time comes.
For the young and 'ivory tower' incumbents among us, she was the person that destroyed almost every industry Britain had in the 1980s, including coal mining, engineering, steel manufacture, fishing and even brick making along with the families and co
mmunities that relied on them, all orchestrated by her Tory Government in order to bring the working classes to heel.
We are now also told that there may be a shortage of troops for a guard of honour. I am sure if the request went out for volunteers outside of London there would be plenty of ex-miners, ex-dockers, ex-shipbuilders, ex-factory workers, ex-construction workers and ex-poll tax rioters available to form a cortege from John 'O Groats to Lands End simply to ensure the casket made it into the ground.
