Congratulations Coun Paul Scriven (Support for the city at what cost, Aug 13) for at last hitting back at the various Labour councillors who are repeatedly 'back-stabbing' him everytime anything good is reported about our new council leader and his party.
It's like a witch-hunt every night in The Star Letter Page, of 'sniping' remarks about the newly elected Lib Dems, and even tonight, we are now joined by a member of the Sheffield Green Party having a go!
After many years of voting Labour I was fe
d-up of their empty promises and the fact that they never seemed to listen to the voices of the public, and so I voted Lib Dem this time around, and what a refreshing 'wind of change' has now come about in the hallowed corridors of our Town Hall.
In the short time Coun Scriven and his party have been in charge, we have been delighted by the way in which they have risen to the challenge and got on with the job of putting to right, that which the Labour Council has so dismally neglected to do.
So give them a chance and let them get on with the job they were elected to do!
Mrs YH, SheffieldAS a resident of Central Constituency, I was totally surprised by Coun Paul Scriven's claims (Aug 13) that it is now a 'marginal' constituency?
From memory, I understand that Mr Caborn has a majority of almost 15,000.
I accept there have been some slight changes to the boundaries of all constituencies, but given that there has been no General Election under these boundary changes, how can Coun Scriven claim to know the voting intentions of people.
Does he have a crystal ball?
Also, while he chooses to bring MPs expenses into the debate, it might be worth noting that Nick Clegg, MP for Sheffield Hallam, claimed £146,022 last year, that's £8,000 more than Mr Caborn.
Mr Clegg also claimed the maximum £23,083 allowance for his 'constituency home', which he doesn't apparently live in.
At least Mr Caborn lives in the city he represents.
If Coun Scriven can do no more than 'mud sling', he certainly won't be getting my vote.
