NANOTECHNOLOGY is being harnessed by a Yorkshire tailor to keep suits dry and free from stains.
Hemingway Tailors, which has a number of clients in Sheffield and Rotherham, says demand is rising for suits made from materials including worsteds with the crease resistant, water repellent 'Nanobloc' technology.

Director Toby Luper said: "Clients are buying strongly into this new technology.

"Crease resistant Nanobloc cloths are ideal for businessmen on the move, particularly in countries with high humidity, and also for our own inclement weather.

"This new technology allows us to deliver all the traditional qualities of a bespoke suit in the finest cloth, with the added benefits that it will repel stains, dirt and moisture. It's a very positive development for the industry."

Mr Luper, who put the water repellent cloth to the test in Sheffield's Peace Gardens, says the high performance finish does not affect the soft feel or breathe of luxury cloths, but repels liquids such as water, coffee and wine causing them to simply bead up and roll off garments.
