Billington has framework for new MOD buildings

TEN thousand men and women in Britain's armed services are enjoying increased comfort thanks in part to Barnsley firm Billington Structures.
The company, which designs, fabricates and erects structural steelwork for the construction industry, has created steel frames for a number of buildings which are part of Project SLAM – the Ministry of Defence's programme to modernise single living a
ccommodation for forces personnel.

Billington has been working on steelwork projects ranging in size from 60 tonnes to 700 tonnes at 40 sites around the country as part of the project.

Earlier this year Vice Admiral Tim Laurence, chief executive of defence estates, opened Project SLAM's 10,000th bed space in the.

Billington Structures is part of Billington Holdings, the company created by a £9.4 million buy-out from the Wakefield-based AMCO Corporation.

The company was recently in the news after clinching three contracts, worth £6 million in total, in one day for steelwork for three educational establishments in the south of England.
