A SOUTH Yorkshire company, which has achieved a tenfold increase in sales over two years, has got a £75,000 cash injection from the South Yorkshire Investment Fund to help fund further growth.
Rocksure Systems of Dinnington distributes the 'Peoplesafe' security device for protection of lone workers and is heading to double its turnover after increasing sales from £62,000 to £768,000 in the two years to April.
The device, which is made b
y Connexion2, based in the same building as Rocksure, and also known as the 'Identicom' badge, looks like a normal name badge, but incorporates mobile communications technology which lets staff working on their own raise an alarm if they are threatened.
The badge transmits a signal which tells security staff where the worker is and allows them to listen in and record what is happening with such clarity that it can be used in courts as evidence.
The lanyard on which the badge is worn also incorporates an alarm which is automatically triggered if anyone tries to tear the badge off.
Rocksure needed the additional cash to fund further expansion and meet increased demand.
Managing director Ian Johannessen said: "We needed to make the transition from a SME to an established company with a strong foundation and with the loan we have been able to increase our infrastructure and staff base to cope with the growth.
"As we've become more established the market has just exploded and because our business model guarantees a monthly subscription to the service, we know we will turnover more than a million pounds next year.
"Clearly we want to capitalise on this and with the loan from SYIF we are in a good position to make the transition and strengthen our foundations."
South Yorkshire Investment Fund investment manager David Ward said: "Rocksure has identified a niche in the security industry, taken its extensive service to the market and enjoyed incredible success in a very short space of time.
"It is a wonderful example of entrepreneurship and the company is helping to give security and confidence to people in jobs that may be associated with certain occupational hazards."
