Suspected Sheffield drink-driver banned from the road after failing to take breath test

A suspected drink-driver has been banned from the road after he failed to take a breath test.

Sheffield Magistrates' Court heard on August 20 how Carl Pearce, aged 45, of Beck Road, Shiregreen, Sheffield, was found by police in a car after there had been a collision with a parked vehicle.

Deputy District Judge Phillip Houlden said Pearce was being held in the vehicle by the public as police arrived and he refused to complete a roadside breath test and an intoxilyser test at the station.

Pearce pleaded guilty to failing to provide a breath specimen after the incident on April 17.

David Staniforth, defending, said Pearce claims someone else had been driving his car which struck a parked vehicle before pulling-up near his home where the driver got out and he was in the passenger seat.

Pearce was fined £200 and must pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge. He was disqualified from driving for 24-months.
