Police are treating an attack on a woman in Sheffield city centre as ‘targeted'.

A 62-year-old woman was found with serious head injuries after an incident on High Street at 11.20pm on Sunday.

She was taken to hospital by ambulance and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Two men, aged 55 and 25, have been arrested on suspicion of serious assault and remain in custody.

South Yorkshire Police said: “The assault is being treated as a targeted attack.”

Meanwhile, a man stabbed in Sheffield city centre on Sunday remains in hospital but is expected to make a full recovery.

The 23-year-old was attacked in Barker’s Pool at around 4.23am and was given emergency first aid by passers-by until emergency services arrived at the scene.

He was taken to hospital in a serious condition and remains there today but is ‘expected to make a full recovery,’ according to South Yorkshire Police.

No arrests have yet been made.
